On the occasion of the Games of the XXII Olympiad, the international Olympic movement experienced the most serious crisis of its modern period. The I.O.C. and its President, Lord Killanin, have safeguarded the essential: that the Games take place, in accordance with the Olympic Charter and the contract signed with the Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (O.O.J.O.). The Games were held for the first time in an Eastern European country. |
