THE XXVIIIth SUMMER GAMES


  An unsuccessful candidate for the 1996 Centenary Games, the city of Athens was awarded the right to host the 2004 Games. It was the first Games of the new millennium. While the Games were a success at the sporting level, particularly in the fight against doping, it should be noted that, for the first time, French was virtually absent from the Games.
