At the 108th Session, held in Lausanne on 17 and 18 March 1999, the Executive Board proposed a new selection procedure for the designation of the 2006 Winter Games. The reform provides for the designation of a college that will have to propose the two finalist cities from among the six selected. For the first time, the choice of the host city was televised. It took place between Sion and Turin. For the first time to my knowledge, we were treated to two commercial breaks during the broadcast of the opening ceremony by RAI as if some countries had less importance than others (unacceptable). It should also be noted that there has been no official programme since the 1st Games in Chamonix and finally, one of the official suppliers offered a product on the Monaco Summer Games in 1972. |
